| Trustworthy
by Daniel J. Dyman, Ed.D.
Without question, trustworthy is a valued personal quality. When a class of college students was asked what was expected of their teachers, thirteen out of fourteen wrote, “I want a teacher that I can trust.” The only other student implied as much.
Certainly, trustworthy is a characteristic hoped for by everyone and should be rendered by everyone in every walk of life. It should be expected. It evokes assurance and reliability. It certifies that transactions can be conducted with confidence that dealings are fare and square. A handshake makes it so.
One that takes on a trustworthy lifestyle who is above and beyond reproach is both noble and honorable and has earned righteous consideration. Trustworthiness is exhibited by willingly living or playing by the rules rather than being constrained by them.
Trust may well beget trust. Encourage trustworthiness by serving as an example of that sometimes called virtue.
